This month, we pay tribute to the men in our lives. Our very own Fernando Gonzalez talks about the importance of travel and, of course, family. Also in this edition, we delve into things men like to do. Is your favorite guy a thrill seeker who prefers to drive down the French Riviera in a classic car or is he the laid back type who would be just as happy indulging at a luxe cigar lounge? We share with you some places our F1S men love: Luxury hotels with unique and stylish cigar lounges and a spectacular golf getaway in Italy.
Fans of Soho’s Crosby Street Hotel will be thrilled with the opening of The Whitby, its new ‘sister’ in Midtown. We were among the first to see the British-based boutique hotel on W. 56th Street last week.
Once again designer Kit Kemp’s inimitable style is on display everywhere. Eye-catching and eclectic fabrics, colors, and textures rule. Attention to detail is everywhere from her specially commissioned “Friendly Flowers” curtains in the Orangerie to the colorful thread-loom installation on the lobby ceiling.
The hotel features 86 individually appointed rooms and suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows, many with private terraces. A dedicated events floor incudes a 130-seat state-of-the-art cinema.
Guests have the exclusive use of a beautiful drawing room off the lobby. A dedicated butler adds to the posh experience. There’s even an honest bar for guests to serve themselves.
Also off the lobby is the bright and airy Whitby Bar and Restaurant, which will feature modern American fare.
